DR KELSEY SKINNER
Kelsey promotes wildlife rehabilitation and conservation through veterinary intervention and education. Kelsey has specialised in pangolin veterinary care in South Africa and Vietnam, working hands on with Temminck’s, Sunda and Chinese pangolins, while also actively consulting for Indian, White-bellied and Phillipine pangolins remotely. Her work involves assessing patients, determining medical treatment plans, and with oversight on the rehabilitation and release of pangolins retrieved from the illegal wildlife trade. Additionally she has worked on larger scale capacity building for veterinarians and rehabilitation facilities in numerous range states, within both Africa and Asia, supporting and guiding on treatment protocols and release strategies for pangolins. She continues to support in helping to improve conservation breeding programmes for Chinese Pangolins in Vietnam (now critically endangered), as well as being involved with global conservation planning initiatives. Kelsey now serves as the full-time vet for APWG’s Pangolarium. She is a member of the IUCN Pangolin Specialist Group and the IUCN PSG’s Veterinary Focal Point.
